Hey, Bianca here.

Longevity, to me, isn’t just ‘staying out longer.’ It’s surfing with more joy, more energy, and more confidence as your body changes.

Each week I share practical ideas from my world.

Small habits.

Technique adjustments.

And mindset shifts that help you surf longer and recover faster.

Not theory. Real-life stuff you can use when you’re actually at the beach.

Last week, I shared what’s inside my surf survival kit — the little things I carry to keep surfing when stuff goes sideways.

This week, I want to tell you how one of those essentials made it into the kit in the first place.

It’s called dragon’s blood.

And I didn’t find it in a surf shop or on some gear list. I found it while laying face down on a Fijian Island, with a back full of fire coral and a swell of a lifetime just starting to hit.

 ...

The reef kissed me hard: burn, blood, raw skin. A sting that felt almost holy.

And the real swell hadn’t even arrived yet.

That afternoon, my board bag finally showed up — wetsuit top neatly folded inside, a few hours too late.

Tavaruā, the heart shaped island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, gives what you need in its own way. The island doctor brought over dragon’s blood — a deep red tree sap that seals wounds and protects against infection. For the rest of the trip, my friends painted it across the cuts before every session.

No tape, no neoprene, just dragon’s blood, antibiotics, saltwater, and stubborn devotion.

And when the swell finally hit, I paddled out anyway — back shredded, heart wide open, exactly where I was meant to be.

I caught a couple of the best waves of my life.

When things go sideways, do I have all the foundations I need — to not scramble, but recover with ease?

You can’t always stop the wipeout, the cut, the setback but you can decide how prepared you’ll be when it shows up. And over time, that becomes more than just a surf habit. It becomes…

A way of moving through life.

Catch you in the waves,
Bianca
